Glorious Return

"Then they will see
the Son of Man
coming in a cloud
with power and
great glory."
(Luke 21:27)

The imagery of Jesus coming in a cloud with power and great glory emphasizes His divine authority and majesty. It reminds us to honor and revere Him as the King of Kings.

The promise of Jesus' return provides hope and assurance that no matter what happens in the world, Jesus will come back in glory. Despite the challenges we face, there is a future hope and a promise of redemption. Knowing that Jesus will return encourages us to stay vigilant and faithful. It serves as a reminder to live in a way that is pleasing to God, always ready for His return.

Reflecting on this verse can inspire us to live with hope, reverence, vigilance, and comfort in the knowledge of Jesus' promised return.

In the sky, a cloud appears,
with power and glory, it draws near.
The Son of Man, in radiant light,
brings hope and joy to end the night.

When signs of change begin to show,
stand tall, let your courage grow.
Lift up your heads, cast off your fears,
for redemption's dawn is finally here.

Through trials and tribulations past,
A promise fulfilled, at last.
With hearts uplifted, voices raise,
in awe and wonder, sing His praise.

The time has come, the moment clear,
Our Savior's presence, drawing near.
In faith and hope, we stand as one,
for our redemption has begun.

Lord Jesus,

In the promise of Your return, we find hope and strength. As we await the day when You come in a cloud with power and great glory, Grant us the grace to live in faith and vigilance.

Help us to recognize the signs of Your coming, To stand firm in our belief and lift our heads high. Fill our hearts with Your peace and assurance, Knowing that our redemption is drawing near.

Lord, guide us through the trials and tribulations of this world, And keep our eyes fixed on the promise of Your glorious return. May we always be ready to welcome You with joy and reverence, As we look forward to the day of Your coming.

Amen.

THE COMING OF THE SON OF MAN / EXHORTATION TO BE VIGILANT
Luke 21:25-28 / 34-36

Gospel Acclamation
Show us, Lord, your love; and grant us your salvation.

Gospel | Luke 21:25-28, 34-36

25 Jesus said to his disciples: “There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and on earth nations will be in dismay, perplexed by the roaring of the sea and the waves. 26 People will die of fright in anticipation of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 But when these signs begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand. 34 Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy from carousing and drunkenness and the anxieties of daily life, and that day catch you by surprise 35 like a trap. For that day will assault everyone who lives on the face of the earth. 36 Be vigilant at all times and pray that you have the strength to escape the tribulations that are imminent and to stand before the Son of Man.”
